1 killed, 4 hurt as vehicle falls into gorge

Jammu, July 17:-KISHTWAR : One person lost his life while four others, including a 12-year-old girl, sustained critical injuries after a Tata sumo in which they travelling last night skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge at Chingham near Chatroo, about 45 km from here on Kishtwar-Sinthan road. The ill-fated vehicle (JK02/1424) was on its way from Sinthan Top to Parna near Chatroo, police sources said.
The incident occured after the driver could not negotiate a sharp curve and the vehicle rolled down into a 400-ft-deep gorge as a result of which one person was killed instantly while four others survived with serious injuries.
The dead was identifieed as Som Nath, son of Mansa Ram of Parna, and the injured as his brother Mohan Lal (40), the latter's son Mohan Lal (16), driver Khushi Ram (38) and his daughter Priyanka Devi (12).
The injured were evacuated by police to the district hospital here. However, three of them were later referred to the GMC hospital, Jammu, following deterioration in their condition.
