Three killed, 36 injured in Bhaderwah road mishap
6 critical, airlifted to Jammu

At least three persons were killed and 36 injured, six of them seriously, when an overloaded Matador skidded off the road and rolled down in river Neeru, near here this morning. The seriously injured were shifted to Jammu in an Army Helicopter. Official sources said that a Matador bearing registration number JK06-1590, which was on its way to Pul Doda from Bhala skidded off the road and fell into the Neeru River.
Some of the injured, shifted to Doda hospital, said that the driver of the over loaded mini bus lost control while negotiating a sharp curve resulting in the fatal accident.

Inhabitants of a nearby village noticed the vehicle skidding off the road and rushed to the spot and rescued the survivors, eyewitnesses added. At least two persons reportedly died on the spot, while another succumbed to his injuries on way to the hospital. The injured were admitted at Doda Hospital, where condition of six of them was stated to be critical. Those who were killed on spot have been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed son of Shams Din and Aftab Ahmed son of Nabi Baksh residents of Panjigran. The identity of the third victim has not been ascertained so far. “Failure of Traffic regulation in the district has once again led to a fatal accident” said a local resident, blaming government of shutting their eyes towards erring officials. He said, commercial vehicles ply on the roads at their will as there is no one to check over loading and authority papers. Deputy Inspector General of Police L Mohanti said that two persons died on the spot while six were seriously injured and airlifted to GMC Jammu for specialized treatment, while 26 injured were admitted at district Hospital Doda. Ex-minister and former MLA Bhaderwah Muhammad Sharief Naiz visited GMC Jammu to enquire the condition of the victims. Expressing, sympathy with the bereaved families, the former minister urged the government for early release of compensation to the next kins of the deceased passengers and also for the injured undergoing treatment in the hospitals.
