Shabir Ahmad Khan has called upon forest authorities to take strict measures for safe guarding forest wealth and check smuggling especially in remote areas. Faqir Ahmad Khan here on Monday, the Minister assured that necessary instructions would be issued to concerned authorities to take cognizance of misuse of timber in the area, cautioning that nobody would be allowed to steal jungle wealth or resort to illegal felling. “Stringent action under forest laws would be taken against the culprits found involved in timber or other forest product smuggling whosoever big he is” , he asserted. Responding to other demands of the deputationists, . Shabir said that all un-electrified hamlets and villages of the tehsil would be provided electricity under RGGVY and other State and centrally sponsored schemes. He said necessary instructions would be issued to concerned authorities for ensuring scheduled power supply to the consumers of the area. He also assured them that timely repairs and renovation of existing diesel generators would be got done so that the people of the area do not face inconvenience during winter months, when whole tehsil Gurez remains cut off from Kashmir for 6 to 7 months due to heavy snow fall. The Minister called upon CA&PD authorities to ensure timely winter stocking of essential commodities in the area. He also directed them for providing monthly ration to the rationees of the area before 25th of every month.
