Shabe-e-Barat celebrated with religious fervour, gaiety in Kashmir | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Jul 18: Lakhs of people joined the night-long prayers in mosques, shrine and other religious places in the Kashmir valley on the occasion of Shabe-e-Barat. The main congregation was held at Hazratbal shrine, which houses the holy Relic's of Prophet Muhammad.
Thousands of people, including women and children, joined the night-long prayers in the shrine on the bank of the Dal Lake.
The authorities had made elaborate security and transport arrangements for the devotees, who had come from different parts of the valley and outside. A large number of people also joined the prayers at historic Jamia masjid in the downtown, where ulemas and other Muslim scholars, including chairman of the moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) addressed the congregation.
Similar prayers were held at the shrine of Mehboob-ul-Aalam, Sheikh Nooruddin Wali, Jehab Sahib Soura, Shehri Kalashpora, Hazrat Sheikh Dawood, Hazrat Yaqub Sarfi and Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani Reports of Shabe-e-Barat celebrations were also received from other parts of the Kashmir valley and Leh, Kargil and Drass in Ladakh region.
