Over 20,000 pilgrims leave for Amarnath

Srinagar, Jul 18: A fresh batch of 20,000 pilgrims today left Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camp for the holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, where over 4.10 lakh yatris had darshan of the self made Ice-Shivlingam since the commencement of 46-day-long pilgrimage from June 29

A yatra official from Baltal, the shortest route to the holy cave, said more than 14,000 pilgrims, including women, children and sadhus left the base camp for the holy cave shrine this morning.

More than 6,000 pilgrims left the Nunwan Pahalgam base camp to cover the 48 km-long track on foot on this traditional route.

The yatra was progressing smoothly and the weather was normal, officials said.
