YAKJAH to organise youth leadership workshop at Bhaderwah

JAMMU, July 18: YAKJAH Reconciliation and Development Network, working for the last one decade to bring youth of conflict affected Jammu and Kashmir is organising Youth Expression and Leadership Workshop at Bhaderwah.The event will be held from July 20-24 with the support of Bhaderwah campus of Jammu University. About 14 youth from Kashmir Valley, Jammu, Doda and Poonch will participate in the five day program.
The students, from diverse backgrounds, professional streams like journalism, law, peace and conflict studies, business management, social sciences, medicine and technology will engage with each other to build bridges of friendship between youth in the state
As per the programme from July 20-22, participants will participate in a ‘Theater Workshop’, on leadership and how to use the theatre to express their views and become leaders for change in their own communities.

On July 22, there will be exchange and dialogue session with the Bhaderwah University students on how the youth in Jammu and Kashmir, who have suffered immensely and remained marginalized during the past two decades of conflict co-create a new future for the region.
As per the organisation from July 23-24, students will participate in ‘Skills Training and Project Planning’ workshop, enabling them to acquire skills in the art of listening, Dialogue and Advocacy.
As per the statement issued by the organisation, the focus of the entire programme is to build the capacities of the youth for conflict transformation, friendship and partnerships. This is a second such workshop being organised by the organization for the university level students.

“The first workshop in New Delhi was only a nascent step towards a paradigm shift in the way individuals perceive the world around themselves, build mental images and on that basis, respond to conflicts or form relationships. The process in all its manifestations has to be deepened and expanded”.
The focus of the workshop in Bhaderwah is to provide the participants with skills equip them to express and communicate in their areas to find a new way to respond to conflicts, build human relationships and bring social change in their respective domain
During the workshop, participants will be guided through sessions on Self Image and Leadership, Active Listening and Human Relationships, Dialogue, Advocacy and Project Planning.
