JWAM presents list of demands to JMC commissioner | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 18: A high level delegation led by Sunil Dimple president Jammu West Assembly Movement met S C Sawhney the Municipal Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation and the member of the high power traffic regulatory committee constituted by the high court. He apprised the commissioner of the problems faced by the people of winter capital Jammu city. The delegation submitted a memorandum of demands to the J&K state govt through him. It demanded to make the Jammu city A “model winter capital” of the country as the municipal corporation has a major role in it. He demanded for the construction of the Municipal markets, Malls, shopping centers, shopping complexes in the Jammu city so that the common man could earn his lively hood and foot paths could be vacated from the encroachers. He demanded to develop more tourists’ spots, Gondola Bridge from Mubark Mandi to Bagh-e-Bahu and start the work of artificial lake of the river Tawi and to take effective steps to solve the traffic problem of the city. He also expressed the serious concern over worst condition of the nallahs of the city; the rain has opened the polls, the water run in to the houses, shops and business establishments of the traders. He demanded for the recruitment and increasing the strength of the safai karmcharies in the city. Dimple expressed strong resentment against the no work started by any of the three projects of the “multi story” parking spots at Panjterthi, Supper bazaar, Shalamar road and at bus stand, to solve the traffic problem, as the traffic problem is worsening in the Jammu city, by the every coming day. Sunil Dimple also appealed the Chief minister Omar Abdullah and chief election Commissioner to defer municipal corporation elections for atleast one year so that the violations, shortcomings, correction of voter lists, issuance of Photo Identity Cards, proper survey of population residing in the municipal wards and proper delimitation of the wards could be done and conducted. S C Sawhney gave patient hearing to the demands put forward by Sunil Dimple and assured for the early redressel of the demands and assured that all the demands will be taken up with the Govt and the memorandum will be submitted to the Chief Minister.
