State government attitude discriminatory towards us : JKGUF

JAMMU, July 18: The Jammu and Kashmir Gujjars United Front has strongly criticized the State government for its discriminatory attitude towards the Gujjars and Bakerwal community of the state in a meeting, held under the chairmanship of its president Anwar Chowdhary, advocate, the executive members of the front discussed various issues pertaining to the Gujjars of Jammu and Kashmir.
The executive members have lambasted the government for exhibiting absolute insensitivity towards the burning problems of Gujjar of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Every right enshrined under the constitution of India as well as the constitution of Jammu and Kashmir is being denied to the community, alleged Anwar Chowdhary.
The insensitivity can easily be discerned from the fact that no meeting of board for the development of Gujjars and Bakerwals has been held so for in which issues can be discussed, said Hamid Chowdhary, a senior executive member.
The senior executive members of the front alleged that there is no plan at all much less the scheduled tribes sub-plan for the development of this community.
The front has also condemned the continues harassment of nomad Gujjars who are indiscriminately being arrested with their livestock during their movement from one to other place. It has also been viewed very seriously that about 25 lac population of this community is being ignored by all the committee and commissions constituted and deputed from time to time to take stock of the situation in the State and also to ascertain view point on different subjects in the State.
Anwar Chowdhary has strongly condemned the recently concluded tours of interlocutors appointed by the Central Government to hear the people of the State 'from different regions. He said that none of the representatives from this Community who could have projected the problems and grievances of this community was consulted by the interlocutors.
It was resolved in the meeting that any conclusion reached pursuant to the concluded forays of the interlocutors should not be acted upon until and unless the same has the approval of all sections of people including the Gujjars of Jammu and Kashmir.
The others who spoke in the meeting included Arshad Chowdhary, Rashid Chowdhary, Nasir Chowdhary, Asgar Chowdhary Sarpanch Chowadi, Mohammad Alam Sarpanch Bathindi, Noor Hussain Chowdhary, Khaliq Firdos,Advocate and others.
