NABARD sanctions Rural infrastructure projects in J&K State | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JULY 18 – National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has allocated a target of Rs. 770 crores for rural infrastructure development in the State of Jammu and Kashmir for the year 2011-12. NABARD has sanctioned Rs. 54 crore for 80 projects consisting of 17 Minor Irrigation projects of Rs. 19 crores, 26 Rural Drinking Water Supply Schemes of Rs. 25 crores and 37 Animal/Sheep Husbandry projects of Rs. 10 crores for creating veterinary facilities. On completion of projects, irrigation potential of 1994 ha and drinking water facilties to 168740 souls would be created. NABARD has given priority for Animal and Sheep Husbandry to encourage the dairy farming and sheep rearing in the State. These activities supplement the source of income of rural people. The projects sanctioned will benefit the farming community of 699 villages in the State.
