PDP staff demands release of arrears,pension benifits

Large number of daily wagers and linemen in the Power development department today took a protest rally in support of their genuine demands and appealed to the state government to disburse their arrears/ wages pending for past several months.
The protest rally was led by the President of the union,Mr Ghulam Nabi Bhat.
The rally started from Amphalla and culminated outside the office of the Commissioner Power Development in Janipur.
Addressing the protest rally, President of the Union Ghulam Nabi Bhat said," they are fighting for the regularization of services of linemen and SBA and would continue to struggle till their demands are fulfilled.
He also appealed to the state government to treat daily wage labourers serving in the department for a period of 10 years or more as skilled worker and at part with ITI cerfiticate holder having an experience of 3 years as defined in the SRO-149.
Bhat in his address also demanded fixation of grade for linemen/ switch breaker attendant as 4000-6000 at the time of his confirmation.
He also appealed to the state govt to expedite disbursement of arrears/ wages as they are the worst sufferers on this count. He also demanded risk allowance to be paid to every PDD employee.
On the occasion district presidents of the Union also addressed the union members and raised their pending demands.
Power Minister Nawang Rigzin Zora accompanied by Chief Engineer DS Pawar and commisoner Power Department reached Janipur and pacified agitating union leaders and PDD employees assuring them that the state government is serious about their demands and would fulfill them.
Interacting with union leaders on the occasion Power Minister said in the absence of some senior officers of the department some delay has been caused in addressing their genuine problems and assured them that pending arrears and wages of large number of daily wagers and linemen would be disbursed.
