Sixth Pay Commission arrears row
JCC calls for strike on Aug 5, 6
7/19/2011 10:42:04 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, July 19 (KNS): Toughening their stand, state government employees Tuesday threatened to expose ‘corrupt’ ministers and bureaucrats in Jammu and Kashmir, if their demands weren’t fulfilled immediately.
Addressing a press conference, Joint Consultative Committee leaders, Abdul Qayoom Wani and Khurshid Aalam said, “If our genuine demands aren’t fulfilled immediately, we will launch a tirade against corrupt ministers, bureaucrats and advisors of the state government. We have details how these people have embezzled massive wealth through unfair means.”
The employees are demanding release of pending arrears of the sixth pay commission, regularization of dailywagers, enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 and enhancement in wages of Anganwari workers.
The JCC leaders warned the coalition government to desist from what they called anti-employees policies and path of confrontation.
“The government has backtracked from the promises and agreements made with the employees from time-to-time,” they alleged, threatening to intensify the agitation in case the demands were not met at the earliest.
Wani and Aalam alleged that some of the senior cabinet ministers including Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather were misleading the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah regarding the demands of the employees.
“JCC leadership has been trying for amicable settlement of the issue through negotiations. Instead the government has always tried to suppress the employees’ movement by force,” he asserted.
The JCC leaders alleged that Jammu and Kashmir had become a ‘hub of corruption.’
“Ana Hazare should come here and five lakh employees will follow him,” they said.
Wani said despite the cabinet order, regularization of contractual, daily wagers and adhocees was not done till date.
