Sahai holds interactive meet with IPS officers

Srinagar, July 19 (KNS): The Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, S M Sahai, Tuesday held an interactive meet with 13 IPS officers of different states, currently on a tour to the Valley.
The IGP gave a brief introduction of Jammu and Kashmir Police, and enumerated the measures taken by the police during last two decades to curb militancy and neutralize attempts of disruption of peace in the last three years.
While interacting with the officers, the IGP said that in the event of any exigency or law and order situation, the Police is first to respond. Giving a first hand account of the destruction of public property caused at the hands of miscreants during the recent agitations in the Kashmir Valley, and the suffering to a common man out of the strikes and bandhs, the IGP said police and CRPF did a commendable job in restoring peace in the valley.
The IGP asserted that the Police was committed to maintain peace and tranquility at all costs.
He said to bridge the gap between police and public, police has established youth clubs in almost each district of the Valley, held numerous Police-Public interactive meets, sponsored Sports events/organised Drug De-addiction Camps, Police recruitment drives and other programmes. These Programmes have evoked huge and over whelming response by the general Public, he added.
Earlier, SP Kulgam, Mubashir Latiefi gave a detailed power point presentation regarding the J&K Police and its fight against militancy.
The IGP responded to a number of queries regarding different facets of policing in the state put forth by the visiting IPS officers.
Those who attended the meet include, D. Hazarika-Assam, Ram Kumar Verma, O Pasi- Meghalaya, R. Dkhar-Meghalaya, J. Rymmai- Meghalya, B. P. Rabha-Assam, Manjunath Annigeri-Karnataka, R. K. H. Naik-Karnataka, Biswarup Ghosh-West Bengal, D. Bandopadyai-West Bengal, L. Lotha-Nagaland, S.Kanungoe-Tripura and K. J Reang-Tripura.
