KPSS appreciate India, Pak talks moving despite Mumbai, Karachi blasts | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 19: KPSS has condemned the series of coordinated blasts that took place in Mumbai on July 13 which took many innocent lives. On the same day, an inter-ethnic strife in Karachi, Pakistan, also took many lives. Ironically, militants in both the countries chose 13th of July which is observed as the Martyr’s’ Day in Kashmir. KPSS as the representatives of minorities in a conflict zone appreciate the role of people’s representatives of India and Pakistan for not derailing from the peace talk re-initiated by both the countries at the bureaucratic and ministerial level. Civil Societies of this sub-continent are very keen to develop an abiding and humane relationship with each other. The Governments of both the countries must work on the confidence building measures (CBMs) that are tangible and can be undertaken on a priority basis to bring relief to the subcontinent in general, and Jammu & Kashmir in particular. The first step towards peace and tranquility in this conflict zone can be an exchange of art, culture and heritage which both the countries share historically and even after 1947. For such an exchange to be effective, the two countries must allow unrestricted bilateral travel by land and air, opening of traditional transportation routes between the two countries, unrestricted use of telecommunications, promotion of trade between the two countries and exchange of writers, artists, doctors, engineers, academicians and other related prominent members of civil societies. It has been propagated by some vested interest groups in the valley that they have relation with Pakistan on religious basis; but we the minorities living in the valley too have relation with Pakistan through the religious places like Mata Sharda Devi Temple, Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Shri. Nankana Sahib and many more. Presently the “Kashmir Premier League T20” organized by State Administration provide opportunities to space to sports and sportsmen in the Jammu and Kashmir to interact with each other. This provides a good platform for the young generation of this conflict zone to interact and know the people from other parts of their own State. So the KPSS suggests that India and Pakistan should support and organize the “Jammu and Kashmir Premier League” in Srinagar and Muzaffarabad (on both sides of the LOC) and should allow the people of divided Jammu and Kashmir to interact with each other to promote brotherhood, tranquility and peace in this region.
