JKPSSU holds protest, demands more attestation counters | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 20: J&K Pahari Speaking Students Union (PSSU) today held a protest demonstration against Jammu University authorities. The activists of PSSU gathered near Dean Students Welfare office and staged a protest under the leadership of their president Abdul Qadar Khan. Addressing the protesting students Khan said that students have to stand in open heat to get their forms attested and university has facilitated only one counter for students due to which they have to wait for hours for their turn to come. The protesters, however, were pacified by PA to DSW, who assured them of opening two more counters. A delegation of JKPSSU meet Dean Academic Affairs (DAA) and apprised him of various issues of opening of Pahari & Gojri Research and Development cell in JU for which a decision was taken in colleges Development Council meeting in 2007. They also took the issue of starting P.G. courses in Arabic and Persian in JU as these subjects are taught in colleges of JU and students who wish to do P.G in these subjects have to suffer a lot. RD Sharma DAA paid a patient ear to the delegation and said that till date no such funds have been granted by UGC or state govt. for opening up this cell. He assured full cooperation and said that this matter will be taken up in the council. Khan informed that it is very unfortunate that even after 4 years no such funds have been created by state Govt. or UGC.
