Arms seized from militant hideout | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, July 20: In a joint operation, police and paramilitary forces has recovered a huge cache of arms, ammunition and allied materials from a hideout of the militants in Rajouri district. Addressing the media, Shabir Choudhary, Additional Superintendent of Police, said on the basis of information, the police launched the joint search operation in Pir Panjal range on July 17. “We launched search operation in Pir Panjal area, our SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police) received information that militants have been active in this area and there may be some hideouts. On the basis of that a party, two teams of SOG (Special Operation Group), under the guidance of SHO (Station House Officer) Budhal, Sureshwar Dev Singh’s group and some personnel from the 60 RR (Rashtriya Rifles) started searching the area two days back and yesterday they achieved success,” he added. The seizure included one AK-56 rifle, three magazines, three wireless radio sets, 251 rounds of ammunition, 15 rounds of ammunition pica, 73 explosive sticks and some hand grenades. “One AK-56, its magazines, other than this ammunition pica and three wireless sets and some explosive materials of making IED have been recovered and it seems that these arms and ammunitions were dumped there last year and it had to be transported to some other area. No militants were found there but it can be said that these arms and ammunition are not too old; they are just one year old,” Choudhary said.
