Over 50 lakh pilgrims visit Vaishno Devi in six months | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 20: A record number of 50 lakh pilgrims have so far paid obeisance at the holy cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi situated in Trikuta Hills of mountainous Reasi district. "Record breaking pilgrims have had darshan of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. While an unprecedented rush is being witnessed for annual Amarnath pilgrimage, the number of yatris visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine is also soaring with ach passing day," official sources said. They said till July 18, over 50 lakh yatris have paid obeisance at the shrine. "So far, 50,52, 129 pilgrims have visited the cave shrine and the figure is 5 lakh more than that of previous year," official sources said. They said on July 19 till 1600 hrs, about 26,000 pilgrims had registered themselves for the pilgrimage. "The rush may rise in the coming days and it is expected that this year, the record of 2010 in which one crore pilgrims visited the shrine, may break," they added. However, all arrangements have been put in place in the wake of heavy rush of visitors besides tight security arrangements.
