No minor in jails: MoS Home | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, July 20 (KNS): The Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani, Wednesday, declared that no minor was in Jammu and Kashmir was in jail and government was committed on zero tolerance on human rights violations. In an interview with KNS Wani said, “There is no truth in the reports that minors are in jails in J&K. If anybody has any such information let him come forward and tell us where his minor son is in jail and we will take action.” He revealed that at the most 130 people were under detention at present. “There cases are being reviewed so that they can be released,” he said. Terming house arrest of Hurriyat leaders on Fridays as compulsion of the government, the MoS Home said, “We will not allow anybody to disrupt peace in the Valley. We keep separatist leaders under house arrest as people ask us to do so.” On infiltration from across the LoC, Wani told KNS, “This year infiltration has come down drastically. J&K Police’s role in maintaining law and order is appreciating as they have the best source network.” He welcomed the resumption of dialogue process between India and Pakistan. ”It is a welcome step. Pakistan Foreign Minister is coming to India with a mission. Both India and Pakistan should address all the outstanding issues including Kashmir in the upcoming talks.” (KNS)
