United opposition’s protest against CAPD Minister in Kishtwar
Block NH outside DC office for manipulating the list for public meet

KISHTWAR, July 20: United opposition joined later by few leaders from Congress party, today held strong protest against the visiting CAPD and Transport Minister Qamar Ali Akhoon, beside officials of District Administration for deliberately stopping the entry of some of the leaders from opposition parties to the meeting venue.
All the politicians, beside members from civil society continue its protest for almost one hour and disrupt the vehicular movements on National Highway, before the ADC Kishtwar Gulam Nabi Balwan along with Additional SP Kishtwar reach the spot and pacified the agitating politicians and members of civil society. The protestors accuse District Administration of manipulating the list on behalf of some of the influential persons, who put pressure on District Administration not to allow the public representatives from Kishtwar District to put forth demands before the minister. Later on the intervention of ADC Kishtwar and ASP Kishtwar, the protestors called off the protest after their demands were agreed by the Minister, who directed the District Administration to allow the opposition leaders to meet him and urged them to raise public related issues.
The opposition leaders during his meeting with Qamar Ali Akhoon raised several issues pertaining to food and transport Department. They informed the minister that officials of CAPD department were involved in embezzlement of ration worth corers of rupees meant for the general public. They informed the ministers that no ration is available at Govt. deports even till today, despite the fact that half of the month of July has already been finished. They also bring the matter of shortage of LPG gas, black-marketing of Kerosene oil, Sub Standard supply of ration mixed with sand and husk. They also demand for setting of a commission to probe the accumulation of properties both moveable and immoveable by various forth class employees of CAPD department. As far as functioning of transport Department is concerned, the general public complaints about the shortage of STRC buses in Kishtwar District and demands for providing more buses to Kishtwar District so that the rotune accidents could be prevented as SRTC buses witness no accident since last two years of its functioning in Kishtwar District. The public shows great concern over playing of unfit vehicles on various routes across Chenab region and demands for constitution of board for verification of fitness of those entire vehicles playing on various routes in Chenab region. They also demands for fixation of fairs on all routes available in Kishtwar District, particularly on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Srinagar Road.
After listing the views of general public and leaders from opposition, Akhoon informed the people that Government of Jammu and Kashmir will bring food security bill in next Assembly Session, so that government and CAPD department will ensure the food security of the masses, beside being held accountable for non delivery of food to each and everyone. He said that keeping in view of month of Ramazan, the Government has decided to provide extra quota of ration to all those areas, where there is shortage of ration. He said that ADC Kishtwar and AD Food Kishtwar will monitor the distribution of Kerosene Oil in Kishtwar District for the period of two months and said that after two months these officers will provide suggestions/feedback for regularization of hassle free distribution of Kerosene Oil. He said that the department of CAPD has availed the services of private lawyer for vacating the stay of Jammu and Kashmir high court, so that LPG counters could be opened in each blocks of the District with 500-1000 LPG connection at each outlet. He said that efforts are being made for scrutinizing the ration distribution system in Kishtwar District and assured the public representatives that coalition Government is committed for providing better facilities to the people of state in terms of food and transportation.
Those who attended the public meet include Anil Parihar, Thakur Jugal Bhandari, Shakir Sidiqqui, Raiz Ahmed Zarger, Mushtaq Ahmed Hap, Intiyaz Ahmed Zarger, Mohinder Parihar, Noor Hussain Malik and others.
Earlier Minister also chaired the meeting of District officer along with MLA Kishtwar and MLA Inderwal and take first hand information about the functioning of CAPD and Transport Department in Kishtwar District. Several public related issued were discussed during the course of meeting, beside various directives were issued by the minister to concerned district officers for improving public-officer relationship in Kishtwar District. Director CAPD Jammu Parveez Ahmed Malik, Ad Food Anantnag Ghulam Rasool Magrey also attended the district officers meet held at DC office Complex Kishtwar.
