| Role of private schools vital for achieving 100 pc literacy: Manjit | | | JAMMU, NOV 28 Stressing on fostering close rapport between parents and teachers for better future of the school going children, Minister of State for Education and Consumer Affair & Public Distribution Mr. Manjit Singh has said that the government has already initiated reformative measures for providing better and quality education to the students particularly in rural areas. The Minister was addressing at a parents day function of Fatima Convent High School Bishnah today. The Minister said that though the government in its last four years has covered almost all areas of the state under education extension and upgradation programme, yet there is still scope for further improvement. Mr. Manjit Singh lauded the role of private schools particularly missionary schools in improving the education standard in various parts of the state. He said that these schools along with government institutions are all set to achieve the target of achieving 100 per cent literacy in the state. Appreciating the management of the schools for promoting physical and cultural activities along with academic standards, the Minister said that physical mental and moral education is imperative in the modern times and asked the management to provide computer education also to student from primary level itself. The school students presented colourful cultural programme and staged impressive march past on the occasion which enthralled the audience. The Minister, later, gave away prizes among the best performing students and participants. Among others Joint Secretary State Board of School Education Mr. Harish Gupta, Principal of the institution, Father Dominic, staff, parents, students and prominent citizens were present on the occasion. |
