RSS goons harassing Kashmir students : Rashid | BJP, Bajrang Dal, Shiv Sena, ABVP backing | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 20: National Students Union of India (NSUI) Jammu and Kashmir today organised a massive protest demonstration to show the solidarity with the students of Jammu and Kashmir studying in the various states of the country. The NSUI J&K expressed shock and anger over the continues harassment and atrocities being committed against the students of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly students from the valley studying outside the state, by the RSS and its backed organisation like BJP, Bajrang Dal Shiv Sena, ABVP and many others. A large number of students from University of Kashmir and various colleges from the Kashmir valley, some parents and affected students participated in the rally, which was first organised response about the issue from any organisation from the valley. The protest rally started from JKPCC office and marched along the Moulana Azad Road, Regal Chowk , Partap Park and culminated at Press Enclave, Srinagar where Rashid Choudhary, State President NSUI addressed the media and emotionally charged and hurt gathering of youth and students. The NSUI activist burnt the effigy of (Rashtrya Sayam Sevak) RSS and Government of Madhya Pradesh to lodge their strong protest over the harassment of student by the RSS goons in MP and other states. Rashid Coudhary addressing the media said that a lot many incidents of harassment and torture of the students of Jammu and Kashmir have happened in the recent past in Bhopal, Agra, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Ludhina and other places. Though the Government of Jammu and Kashmir initiated some efforts in this regards but a lot needs to be done. He said that the issue of the safety of people of Jammu and Kashmir travelling in other states is the responsibility of the central government and of the respective state government but unfortunately there is no such advisory from the union government to the states. He revealed that recently (last Friday) a group of Kashmiri students living in Bhopal were, another one ( last Saturday) in the Khandari Campus of BR Ambedkar University in Agra were harassed by the RSS goons for doing nothing and police also supported the RSS goons, took the students into custody and later released after the local NSUI units intervened. Rashid said that the issue of the harassment of student and youth of Jammu and Kashmir is not a new one. We have lost many innocent lives through the hands of various agencies across the country. He said that 2003, an engineering student in Mumbai was picked by the police who died in the custody, to which the than Prime Minster of India Atal Behari Vajpee apologised and promised that such incident would be avoided in future, but up to now there is no concrete policy from the union government. In 2005 Imran Kirmani of Hindwara studying in RGMC Aeronautical Jaipur was arrested and paraded as an LET operative. He fought a tough legal battle and recently was found innocent by Delhi High Court. He revealed that NSUI delegation have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah through his political advisor, Davinder Rana who assured redressal of their demands. Meanwhile NSUI J & K is going to send a high level delegation including the affected students to Rahul Gandhi for his intervention in this matter. NSUI urged the Home Ministry to send a strong advisory to all the states in the country not harass the students and youth from Jammu and Kashmir and Government of state must pursue this matter aggressively with the centre. Rashid appealed Chief Minister to appoint a nodal officer at all the J & K Houses in various states to look into and follow up the complaints made by the students and youth living in the respective states. He urged that state government to establish a proper “ State Students Grievances Cell” which must cover a functional telephone help line, a single window Identity Card System, a Web/ Portal, complete information about the reorganisation, fee structure, back ground, loan schemes of the various educational intuitions of the various states that students may not fall a prey to the factious and unrecognised institutions. Addressing the media state vice president NSUI Ajaz Mehr warned the Madhya Pradesh government not to harassment the Kashmiri students; otherwise NSUI would be compelled to launch a nationwide protest campaign. He revelled that if things do not get better, a NSUI delegation would go to Bhopal and do a protest demonstration there. Nisar Khan senior Youth Congress leader also addressed the gathering and appealed the student and youth to get united and raise a strong voice against the injustice meted to the students of the state studying in various other studies. Fayaz Ahmed state general secretary NSUI, Yasir Pandit senior Youth Congress leader, Neelam Bashir, Irshad Ahmed, Zahid Choudhary, Tousaif Raina, Ashraf, Sjad, Yahaya and Daoud also addressed the gathering and spoke to media.
