NPSU agitation enters 20th day

JAMMU, July 20: Agitation launched by National Panther Students Union (NPSU) for CUJ entered 20th day and situation became critical when police tried to disperse the agitating students by minor lathi charge but timely intervention of Pushvinder Singh Manhas (state vice president Youth Panthers and incharge NPSU) prevented the major scuffle between agitating students and police persons.
Students of the GDC Paloura today took lead in boycotting the classes under the leadership Rawat Manhas, Rohit Kumar and Atul Sudan and came in the shape of rally to the SPMR College of Commerce.
Where they joined by the students of SPMR College of whose classes were boycotted under the leadership of Lovkesh Gondhi, Ishan Choudhary and Vishal Sadotra.
Students of both the colleges gathered in the ground of SPMR College of Commerce where they were addressed by NPSU leaders and in the shape of rally they moved towards the ever busy canal road but police tried their level best to present them from going on the road but all the exercise of the police went in vain.
The students of these colleges then moved towards the main gate of GGM Science College where they were joined by the hundreds of the students of GGM Science College where also classes were boycotted under the leadership of Abhey Sharma, Shiv Dev Singh and Yogesh Talwar.
Police personnal tried to stop them by closing the main gate forcefully but the rally of the students of SPMR College and GDC Paloura showed aggressiveness and threw open the main gate of GGM Science college and agitating students of all the three Degree Colleges came on the road and tried to move towards the Governor house but police used lathi charge to disperse them and students acted aggressively on this action of police and started stone pelting due to which window panel of one vehicle was broken. Situation could have gone more critical but timely intervention of Pushvinder Singh Manhas prevented the situation to go critical and he alongwith the agitating students sat on dharna in mid of the canal road for more than 2 hours to lodge their protest against the action of police personnals.
Addressing the gathering Pushvinder Singh said that the present Government of state as well as centre are seems to be dumb and deaf who could not listen the hues and cries of the people of Jammu, especially the students of Jammu region who are on the roads since last 20 days.
Partap Singh Jamwal (Provincial President NPSU) took serious note of the action of police on agitating students and termed that State Government is trying their level best to sabotage the on going agitation by one means or the other and is using police personnals as their touts.
