Fai disclosers only tip of iceberg: Jitendra Singh
7/21/2011 9:44:49 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, July 21: Terming the arrest of Kashmiri separatist activist Ghulam Nabi Fai for being an agent of Pakistan ISI as simply a tip of the iceberg, the BJP chief spokesperson & national executive member, Jitendra Singh has alleged that ever since the advent of militancy in Jammu & Kashmir in 1989, several politicians, activists, intellectuals and scribes operating in the garb of human rights leaders or journalists have been on regular pay roll of foreign funding agencies for their anti-India activities and this calls for a thorough probe.
Singh said that the activities of Fai and his associates in Jammu and Kashmir as well as in Delhi were never a secret but each time when the issue was brought to the notice of Govt. of India, the Centre not only turned a blind eye but the UPA government also went ahead to announce state awards for some of these scribes.
This also vindicates the BJP’s oft repeated stand that the so called separatist movement in Kashmir is sponsored by foreign powers hostile to India and facilitated by UPA’s appeasement policy towards separatists, he added.
Singh, who was himself recently denied visa to travel to Washington DC as a member of BJP delegation despite an official invitation from the Republican Party of America and International Republican Institute (IRI), said it is a shame that nationalist and patriotic activists and intellectuals are prevented from travelling to US while so called intellectuals known for their anti-India tirade are allowed to travel frequently to US and other foreign countries to attend seminars and symposia dubiously funded by anti-India agencies and organized with a well-calculated motive to weaken India’s position on Kashmir.
20 years of militancy has proved a big boon for certain individuals and groups in Jammu & Kashmir espousing the cause of so called Kashmir liberation and human rights violation by security agencies, said Jitendra Singh and demanded constituting of an impartial Inquiry Committee to investigate the source of income of some of so called activists, politicians and intellectuals who were living hand to mouth before 1990 but became overnight rich and amassed huge moveable and immovable properties.
He also demanded a government report on the progress made on state operations against Hawala money channels funding Kashmir separatists.
