NSUI unit Kishtwar calls on former R & B minister

Kishtwar July 21:At least 200 active members of National Student Union of India (NSUI) unit Kishtwar under the leadership of Saqib Lone president NSUI unit Kishtwar called upon former Roads and Building Minister and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori at his residence in Kishtwar.
NSUI activists appraised Saroori about various problems faced by the college students due to lack of drinking water facilities, shortage of staff in college, non availability of hostel facilities for students of rural areas at Kishtwar.
They informed the minister about the problems faced by the medical stream students, particularly lack of space in laborites and non existence of medical block.
They also informed Saroori that more than 2000 students were enrolled in Degree College Kishtwar and intimated MLA that the existing infrastructure need to be expanded by constructing Medical Block, Computer Block, Library, Laborites and toilet facilities. They also demanded for induction of more courses in Kishtwar University Campus, so that more students of Kishtwar district and it’s adjoining areas may avail the benefits of education at door step.
After giving patient hearing to various issues raised by the student leaders, Saroori called various officers including newly posted executive engineer PHE Kishtwar Abdul Wahid Zarger and directed him to make necessary arrangements regarding uninterrupted drinking water supply for Degree College Kishtwar.
Zarger assured MLA and student leaders that he will look into the matter on top priority. He also assured the students that he will also look into the possibility of installation of water cooler inside the college premises.
On account of lack of infrastructure, shortage of staff and hostel construction, Saroori took up the matter with director colleges Jammu, who assured \that he will look into all the demands raised by the student leaders.
Director colleges also appraised Saroori about various steps Government is keen to take up for upliftment of education standard in degree college Kishtwar.
Saroori also assured the student leaders that he will raise and discuss all the issues discussed in today’s meet with Minister for Higher Education Abdul Gani Malik.
Student leaders expressed their gratitude to Saroori for showing his keen interest in redressing the problem of student community.
Youth Congress leader advocate Suman Thakur alongwith Waseem Saroori managed the student meet with MLA.
The others who were present in the meeting included Randeep Thakur, Yasir Rashid Lone, Aftab Sadiqqui, Ashish Bahandari, Raj Kumar, Ashiq Hussain, Ashish Singh, Aditya Sen, Sherru Shan and others.
