Construction of Rs. 17 cr Soit 50MVA grid station on anvil: Shabir

SRINAGAR, JULY 21 –Kalakote 20 MVA grid station has been made fully operational to provide hassle free power supply to the consumers of twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch, said Minister of State for Power, Mr. Shabir Ahmed Khan during his inspection to the grid station on Thursday.
The Minster said that this grid station was gutted recently due to lightening, which has caused damage to major portion of the station. “The Government speedily took up repair works and replaced the damaged portion of the grid station, made it operational in record time for benefit of the consumers of the area”, he said and added that providing upgraded power supply facilities to the consumers is priority of the government. “Several innovative initiatives have been taken to upgrade overall power scenario in the State which is quite visible on ground”, he maintained.
Mr. Shabir who is on extensive tour of Rajouri for taking stock of the people’s problems and, inspecting pace of several ongoing developmental projects in the area today visited the site proposed for construction of Soit 50 MVA grid station. He said the government has already approved project cost of about Rs. 17 crore for construction of this grid station. “For taking up the execution of the project tenders have been already floated, bids received but it is unfortunate that some contractors have stayed execution of the project”, he said and emphasized upon the concerned authorities to follow the case vigorously for vacation of the court stay, enabling early execution of Soit grid station, which in future will improve electricity in Rajouri and Poonch districts.
The Minister while interacting with the people, reiterated that government is committed to upgrade power scenario across the state, adding besides State plan’s RGGVY and PMRP guarantees to extend electricity facility to all un electrified villages and hamlets of the state.
