EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, July 21: The 11-member team of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), currently on a 6-day visit to the University of Kashmir, called on Governor N N Vohra, at Raj Bhavan here last evening.
The Governor had informal discussions with the NAAC team led by Prof S P Thyagarajan, and comprising Prof Ashish Ray, Prof V Vijayakumar, Dr (Mrs) Pankaj Mittal, Prof A Balasubramanian, Prof K P S Unny, Prof S P Singh, Prof T N Mathur, Prof Javaid Akhter, Prof Sudha Rai and Dr M S Shyamsundar. The discussions were followed by a dinner hosted by the Governor, who is also Chancellor of the Kashmir University.
Among those present were: Prof Talat Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir, Prof Abdul Wahid, Vice Chancellor, Central University, Kashmir, Dr Tej Partap, Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir, Dr A R Trag, Vice Chancellor, Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipore, Dr Siddiq Wahid, former Vice Chancellor, Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipore, B B Vyas, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Sudhanshu Panday, Commissioner/Secretary, Finance, R K Goyal, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Tanvir Jahan, Commissioner/Secretary, Higher Education and Prof Syed Fayaz Ahmad, Registrar of the Kashmir University.
Prof Thyagarajan informed the Governor that the NAAC team had very useful interactions with the teaching and non-teaching staff, teachers and employees associations and the students and were able to assess the academic resources, research activities, teaching facilities, support services and other related areas. The NAAC team had visited various Departments and Research Centres and had had detailed discussions with Prof Talat Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, and other officials of the varsity regarding the self-assessment report submitted by the University. |
