| Qazi seeks cooperation of people for conserving forests | | | Jammu, Nov 28 Development of unprecedented nature has been launched in all parts of the state since the installation of coalition government with twin objectives of boosting infrastructure and improving socio-economic lot of downtrodden and margionalized sections of the society. This was stated by Minister for Forests, Environment, Housing & Urban Development, Qazi Mohammad Afzal while addressing a public meeting at Koteranka in Budhal block of Rajouri district today. He said that the government has initiated several measures for providing basic facilities to the people including road connectivity, adequate drinking water and electricity and basic infrastructure in education and health sectors. Major projects, he said have been taken under double shift system to ensure their speedy completion. The Minister asked the Forest Department to constitute new village forest committees and dissolve the existing committees. He asked the functionaries to visit field and constitute village forest committees in consultation with villagers for effective protection of the forests. He made it clear that conservation of forests is a duty of every citizen and cautioned that no body would be allowed to encroach upon forest land. Later, the Minister visited various areas enroute to Rajouri and Koteranka and took stock of various developmental works under execution. During his visit, several deputations met him and apprised him of their demands pertaining to fulfilling vacant posts of teachers, creation of Town Area Committee at Koteranka, providing of mobile telephone facility and adequate drinking water and electricity. He heard them patiently and assured due consideration. |
