NSF demands probe in fund utilization in JU | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 21: National Secular Forum (NSF) demanded a high level probe into the utilization of funds meant for Jammu hospitals, here today.
Addressing the protestors NSF state president Vikas Sharma, said the Government Medical College, Jammu which caters to huge chunk of population in the Jammu, continues to be facing shortage of life saving and basic drugs that exposes the tall claims of the government.
He warned that they would intensify their agitation if immediate measures are not taken to improve the healthcare system in the hospital to improve patient care.
He added that the state government claimed to have spent Rs 7.13 crore for purchase of life-saving and basic drugs and instruments in the GMC Jammu during 2010-11, but the hospital still was facing the acute shortage of drugs.
“Doctors are unable to provide good treatment to patients due to non-availability of basic drugs and equipments” added Sharma.
He also said that people are being to force the basic drugs from markets on high rates while poor patients are being denied treatment. There should be high-level inquiry to expose the large scale embezzlement in the funds.
Among those who were present on the occasion included Sukdev Singh, Balveer Kumar, Sanjay Sharma, Shafqat Malik, Manjit Singh, Ajaz and Sunny Babber beside others.
