| 16 Bangladesh nationals convicted | | | Jammu, Nov 28 Munsiff RS Pura SR Gandhi has convicted sixteen Bangladeshi for illegally entering into the country and sentenced them to undergo simple imprisonment of seven months. Sources told News Agency of Kashmir that after going through the evidence on record the court convicted 16 Bangla nationals under section 3/6 Indian Passport (Entry into India) act and each of the accused people was sentenced to simple imprisonment for three months. The accused were also sentenced for four months and fine of Rs 500 for offence under section 14 Foreigners Act. In default of payment of fine the accused have to undergo further imprisonment of ten days, the court observed further. “The period of custody already under gone shall be set off from the sentence warded to them and both the sentences shall run concurrently”, the court directions said. The accused were reportedly arrested on 21-09-2006 by RS Pura police while trying to exfiltration to the other side of border. |
