| POK refugees call on Bhalla, seek ownership rights | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 21: A deputation of PoK refugees of 1947 called on Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla at Civil Secretariat Srinagar.
The deputation comprising Paramjit Singh, Kulwant Singh, Dharmindhar Singh Bhargav, Mohinder Singh, Balwinder Singh and Kulwant Singh.
The deputation presented a representation to the Minister for implementing the direction of High Court of J&K and Supreme Court of India in a writ petition No. 684 PIL 2005 for granting ownership rights to displaced persons of 1947 from PoK who are residing in evacuee property houses.
The Supreme Court has also directed the State Govt to hand over the possession of the allotted land to refugees which is under the illegal tillers of the locals.
The Minister listened the deputation and instructed the Custodian General to made a detailed report in the light of the decisions of both the Courts. He also convened a meeting with Commissioner Secretary Revnue along with members of refugees for implementation of the Courts decision and process the files speedily for
honouring the orders of both the Courts in favour of POK refugees.
