| Fauji mela at Mendhar attracts youth | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 21: As part of highlighting the yeoman services and traditions of Indian Army in support of local youth, its retired personnel and Veer Naris, a Fauji Mela was organised under the aegis of Romeo Force in Mendhar.
Sector Rashtriya Rifles had provided a platform for the youth of the district to have a close look at the values, traditions and valor of Indian Army with a view to motivate them to join the olive greens.
The enthusiasm shown by the local youth could be well appreciated when Mohd Imitiaz Ahmed of Daraba, Mohd Iqbal of Chhatral and many others thanked the organisers and looked forward for another opportunity to have close interaction with the Army.
The event was attended by civil dignitaries Ranjeet Singh, SDM Mendhar, Dr. Zulfikar, BMO Mendhar, Subhash Dogra, Tehsildar Mendhar, Mohd Rafiq Hussain Khan, MLA (PDP) Mendhar, Javed Rana, MLC (NC), Mendhar, Praveen Tandan, Sarpanch Mendhar and many others.
The attraction of the event was the equipment display of Artillery Guns and latest weapons. Cultural event by school children and dog show was of great attraction. Also, information useful to local people was provided by organising interaction of locals with Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Health and Hygiene departments.
On the occasion, Vir Naries were honoured by Senior Military officials. They were also provided with information about various welfare schemes started by Central / State Govt for their rehabilitation.
