PIL seeking modernization of Jammu Railway Station | Divisional Manager NR to appear in person | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July-21 (JNF):- In a PIL filed by Citizen Forum through its President RK Chadha regarding modernization and other facilities for the Passengers at Jammu Railway Station, the Division Bench of Jammu & Kashmir High Court comprising Justice JP Singh and Justice Hasnain Massodi directed Divisional Manager Northern Railways J&K Jammu to appear in person on the next date of hearing. The Court referred the order of dated April 25, 2011 in which direction was given to Divisional Manager Railways to file affidavit indicating information regarding modernization and extension plans of Jammu Railway Station, if any, on anvil and details with status, the facilities, if any, available for old, infirm, physically challenged and children to cover the distance from parking area to the railway platform, the facilities, if any, and details thereof for movement of old, infirm, physically challenged and children from one platform to another platform, the number of people who visited Jammu Railway Station as passengers or otherwise during the period from 1st April, 2010 to 31st March, 2011. The area of parking place(s) at Jammu Railway Station for use of passengers, visitors and the railway staff. The court observed that despite service the respondent has not filed the affidavit supplying requisite information counsel for the respondent Mr. Chandel seeks more time to file response to the petition. He has, however, no explanation to make as to why requisite information has not been supplied by Divisional Manager Northern Railway J&K, Jammu and directed to appear in person and he shall report compliance of order dated April 25, 2011.
