Govt to revamp Mughal gardens: Sham | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, JULY 21: With a view to further beautify and restore the pristine glory of world famous Mughal Gardens of valley, the State government will soon create added facilities therein. The government has decided to revamp these marvels in view of their being tourist attractions. This was stated by the Minister for Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma during his visit to botanical, Nishat and Shalimar gardens today. “Mughal gardens are our heritage and all possible measures will be taken to preserve their status”, Minister said. He issued direction to Director Floriculture to submit a comprehensive plan for undertaking necessary renovation, installation of lights and creating more recreational facilities for the attraction of tourists and locals. While, witnessing the demonstration of “ Hill rolling Ball and Water Rolling Ball” organised by an international company in the botanical garden, the Minster appreciated the idea and asked the company to submit a formal proposal for examination. The move is to attract more and more domestic as well as foreign tourists in these gardens on the pattern of world famous tourists resorts. The proposed facility will be first of its hind in the history of Jammu and Kashmir and government will launch this gradually in all the gardens of the state, if found successful, said Sharma. The Minister laid stress on botanical garden and tulip garden as all season destinations by creating world class infrastructure. He said presently the tulip garden serves as short time destination and site remains idle for most of the period. He directed for suitable measures to keep the garden attractive for the people.
Director Floriculture, Dr GN Naqash and Engineers of floriculture department also accompanied the Minister.
