NPSU’s agitation for CUJ enters 21st day, protests continue

JAMMU, July 21:
Continuing their struggle for Central University for Jammu (CUJ) National Panthers Students’ Union (NPSU) on 21st consecutive day boycotted the classes of various Government Degree Colleges of Jammu region and held massive protest demonstrations outside their respective colleges.

Female students of GCW Gandhi Nagar, Jammu also jumped into the ongoing agitation launched by NPSU and boycotted their classes voluntarily and held massive protest demonstration at the main gate of the College.

Earlier the students of GCW Gandhi Nagar today boycotted their classes under the leadership of Komal, Meenakshi, Baljeet Kour and Arti and offered their full support to the NPSU who is spearheading the ongoing agitation for CUJ.

Addressing the gathering of female students of this college, Abhey Sharma and Sumit Gupta recalled the appreciating role of students of GCW Gandhi Nagar in previous agitations and congratulated the students of college who have started taking part in the ongoing agitation for CUJ.

The students of GGM Science College also boycotted the classes under the leadership of Shivdev Thakur, Jyoti Choudhary and Mohd Ashraf and held a massive protest demonstration. Addressing the gathering in this college, Sahil Choudhary said that the administration has started to pressurize the students of the college and threatened them of dire consequences for participating in the ongoing agitation which is highly condemnable.

He said that any official who belong to the Jammu region should support the ongoing agitation for CUJ irrespective of his post or portfolio.

The students of SPMR college of Commerce also boycotted their classes under the leadership of Lovekesh Gondi, Ishan Choudhary and Vishal Sadotra and held massive protest demonstrations in college premises. The students of GDC Paloura also boycotted their classes under the leadership of Rawat Singh and held massive protest demonstration at the Canal Road near the gate of SPMR College of Commerce.

Later the students of GGM Science College, SPMR College of Commerce and GDC Paloura marched towards the Canal Road outside the GGM Science college after a ding dong battle for more than half an hour with police, they succeeded in coming on the road and blocked the ever busy Canal Road and sat on dharna on the road due to which the vehicular movement was effected for more than one and half hour.

Speaking on the occasion, Partap Singh Jamwal lambasted the state as well as central government for delaying the appointment of the Vice Chancellor for CUJ. He said that the HRD minister should take this matter seriously and initiate positive steps for the opening of CUJ in Jammu.

Pushvinder Singh Manhas (State Vice President Young Panthers and Incharge NPSU) lambasted those self styled so called leaders who are blackmailing the people of Jammu and playing with the sentiments of the people of Jammu.
