| Vigilance produces challan against Patwari | | | Jammu, Nov 28 Vigilance organization Jammu today produced challan against the then Patwari Halqa Pamote in tehsils Ramnagar of district Udhampur before Special Judge Anti-corruption Jammu, Janak Raj Kotwal. The accused Patwari, identified as Om Parkash, has allegedly demanded and accepted bribe of Rs 2000 from a local villager for the issuance of demarcation report of a piece of land. As per the challan, sources told News Agency of Kashmir, the accused Patwari has been placed under suspension by the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur vide his order No 733-36-SQ dated 18-07-2006 and from the investigation conducted it has been established that the accused has demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 2000 from the complainant for issuing demarcation report of land falling under Khasra No 229, Village Pamote. The Patwari was allegedly caught red handed by the vigilance organization and the bribe money was recovered from his possession in presence of witness. After getting the sanction for launching prosecution against the accused Patwari from the government, the vigilance organisation produced the challan against him for the offences under section 5 (1) (d) read with 5 (2) Jammu and Kashmir Prevention of Corruption Act, sources added. |
