Forester killed as car falls into Chenab | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 21: A forest officer of the state forest department was today killed after the Maruti car he was driving skidded off the road near Drabshalla in Kishtwar and fell into the flooded Chenab river. The mishap occured at about 11 am when Mohammad Aslam Bhat, a forester, was on his way from Kishtwar town to Thathri in his Maruti car (JK02L/3770). Police sources said Bhat lost control over the car on a sharp curve between Kangri and Drabshalla as a result of which it plunged into the swollen Chanab waters. There was no other person in the vehicle. Sources said both Bhat, who hailed from Shaheedi Mohallla in Kishtwar, and the car were washed away by the strong river currents.Though police utilised the services of local divers, the latter could not find any trace of either Bhat or the car.Sources said it might take some time to fish out Bhat's body as the river was flooded and the water level was very high. |
