40 lakh J&K youth being brought under skill up-gradation: Rather | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Jul 22: Underscoring the need for a shift from conventionally qualified manpower to specialized work-force for meeting multi-dimensional requirements of public Services, Minister for Finance Abdul Rahim Rather has said that there was a dire need to change curricula to produce human resource in technical, managerial and administrative skills needed by Industry, trade and business. Speaking at a seminar on “Skill Development for enhancing employability” in the context of the Prime Minister’s special job plan for Jammu and Kashmir youth, Rather said Skill upgradation Mission was the pressing need of the hour as India’s bustling economy needs a strong skilled human work-force. Mission will take care of rural workforce and equip unemployed and unskilled youth with necessary skills to enable them get employment. “Against the backdrop, the centre and the state governments have decided to go for a multi skill development programme in a mission mode which shall target skill upgradation of 500 million of its work force by the year 2025 adding that the J&K has also set a target to go for a massive skill imparting and skill upgradation of 40 lakh persons to be achieved by the year 2025, Rather added. Rather lauded efforts of Ascent Group for taking bold initiative to train youth of the State in various skills and hoped that the Seminar would go a long way in accomplishing this noble cause. Minister for Higher Education also spoke on the occasion and described salient features of the Skill Development Policy Document prepared by the State and SKEWPY for generating dignified jobs for youth in private sector. Seminar was organized by the Ascent Group in association with Career Launcher Educate Ltd. for promoting quality coaching to aspirants from J&K for diverse career options under “JK Top 25 free coaching and mentoring programme. Chairman Ascent Group, Mohammad Shafi Pandit, Chairman, Career Launcher, R. Satyanarayana, Industrialists, Shakeel Qalandar and a large number of students were present. |
