Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Jul 22: Work on Akhnoor-Kalakote-Barn-Siot 132 KV double circuit transmission line is apace. The execution of this project has been taken up at an estimated cost of Rs. 31.52 crore during last year, with the purpose to upgrade power infrastructure facilities in twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch, said Minister of State for Power Shabir Ahmed Khan during his inspection of various sites of this transmission line on Friday.
Minister while taking detailed review of several ongoing power projects during inspection, revealed that up-gradation of power infrastructure in border Poonch district is also priority of the government, adding work on 20 MVA grid station Chandak at a cost of Rs. 13.88 crore is apace and would be completed by September this year.
He said laying of 132 KV transmission line from Draba to Chandak taken up at a cost of Rs. 10.08 crore almost completed. He said the concerned executing agencies have been asked to ensure timely completion of all ongoing power projects in the area for early benefits of the consumers.
Elaborating the benefits of laying high transmission lines and more grid stations in Rajouri and Poonch districts, Shabir said with the commissioning of this prestigious transmission line, power supply to twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch would be made available on two parallel circuits, one from Gladni Grid Station and another from Barn Grid Station.
He said distribution of load can be safely done up to Kalakote on one of 132 KV circuit, which would be single circuit line from Gladni and other double circuit line from Barn Grid Station. He said there would be double circuit line upto Draba and after Draba to Chandak there would be single circuit line on double circuit towers.
Minister said at present due to transmission line constraint of single circuit 123 KV Gladni-Kalakote transmission line, the restriction of load is being done up 300 -320 Amps where as conductor of this line can carry current upto 380 Amps safely. He said with the commissioning of 132 KV double circuit Barn-Siot-Kalakote transmission line, the line constraint would be overcome and power scenario shall of course, improve with coming up of 50 MVA, 132/33 KV Grid Station, Siot.
