Army officer burnt alive, 4 injured in Siachen glacier fire | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Jul 22: Two Army Lieutenants died and four other soldiers received burn injuries when a fiberglass bunker caught fire in Siachen glacier area last night. A defence ministry spokesman said details of the incident were being collected. Official sources here today said that fire broke out in a bunker in Siachen, regarded as the world's highest battlefield, with posts located at altitudes ranging up to 22,000 feet and temperatures going as far down as minus 40 degree Celsius. They said two Army officers in the bunker were charred to death before the flames could be brought under control. Four soldiers who tried to rescue the officers also sustained burn injuries in incident and were hospitalised. This is first such incident in Siachan area.
