‘Political parties in J&K have failed to raise peoples’ demands’

Jammu 22 July, 2011 A delegation of a cultural, ecological, environmental and social society called Bhoomitra Sangh led by O P Thakur advocate and president of the society called on Thakur Randhir Singh who is the patron of the society and discussed various issues being faced by the people of J&K and said that the civil society has to be constituted in all blocks and districts of the state to address the chaotic condition created by the despotic political bosses and unprecendented corruption and official commission regime that have bankrupted the state of its moral and humanitarian values as well as the natural and human resources.
Singh said that the Doda District takes the lead to form the first civil society wing at Thathri under the chairmanship of Satish Kotwal an educationist, Hans Raj Kotwal ,vice chairman , Asghar Khan ,general secretary,Nasir Ahmed ,Joint Secy, Abdul Karim Malik as treasurer , similar society has been formed in district Kathua under the chairmanship of progressive farmer of Madhin, Hiranagar Shivdev Singh and other parts of the state.
Singh has directed the members of the civil society to raise the public issues through Public Interset Litigation (PIL) , RTI’s and public demonstrations against the corrupt politicians and bureaucrats. Singh said he is in touch with many social activists in the state who are fighting against the rampant corruption, unemployment and help the employees demanding implementation of 6th pay commission in Jammu and Kashmir and has appealed to such social activists to get together on one platform forgetting their political identities if so they have . Singh regretted the most of the political parties in Jammu and Kashmir have failed to raise the genuine demands of the people.
Singh said the aim and objectives of the society are to create political, social, environmental and developmental awareness and educate the masses about their rights and duties, to bridge the ever widening gulf and communication gap between the civil society and the politico-bureaucratic set up of colonial days and press upon the latter to serve the former and not rule like dictators and many more.
