Jethmalani who is the veteran criminal lawyer of the country was informed by the various leaders of displaced Pandit community at Jagati today that hundreds kanals of land of their shrines and religious places besides the cultivable land of displaced Pandits by anti social elements in the Valley during the last 21 years of the turmoil.
Jethmalani who visited the Jagati township to ascertain the views of the displaced Pandits on Kashmir problem and its possible solution was informed by the Pandit leaders that not only the land of Hindus and their religious places has been encroached in Valley but the names of various historical places and hill locks housing the famous Hindu shrines and temples have also be changed.
The Kashmiri Pandit Conference J&K president, Satish Pajnoo informed KC chief that the name of historical township of Anantnag has been changed as Islamabad while the name of famous Shankarachariya Hill lock has also been changed as Thakat-e-Suliman and that of Hariparbat hill lock which houses the shrine of Chakreshwar was changed as Kohi-e-Maran. This has been authenticated by the Government as Archeological Survey of India (ASI) has also installed a board on the Hill lock.
Pajnoo said this way the Government in connivance wit fundamentalists and separatists was trying to eliminate the remaining symbols of Kashmir.
The Government has also failed to implement the distress sale act in letter and spirit and the Hindu land has been sold at various places through fake sale deeds, said PN Pandita general secretary KPC. He accused the Government of not being sincere in rehabilitation of Pandits in Valley.
Ashok Kangan of JK Vichar Manch advocated for separate home land to Pandits in Valley as only solution to their problems. While Desh Rattan chairman AMCCC accused the GOI of adopting appeasement policy towards Hurriyat and separatists at the cost of displaced Hindus who are the worst victims of terrorism.
SL Koul of secular front highlighted the problems of overaged youth while NC activist ML Munshi demanded enhancement of cash relief.
Jethmalani who accompanied by Madhukeshwar and VK Grover said that state Government was responsible for the plight of Pandits. He said J&K Government is duty bound to solve the problems of Pandits as Centre in a federal structure has less role to play in the same.
He said during his previous visit to Kashmir as head of KC he had made Hurriyat leadership to agree that the rehabilitation of KPs with honour and dignity was also an issue before them. And after revival of KC he will again take up this issue with them.
The KC chairman however urged the KPs to unite and put their point forcefully before the Government. He assured them full support and help.
