R&B translates infrastructure development programmes into reality: Azad

Jammu, Nov 28
“Whenever concept of construction and building comes to mind name of R&B emerges simultaneously”, said Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad here today.
He was speaking at a function organized jointly by Department of Information and Public Relations and R&B at Abhinav Theatre. The function which marked the inauguration of photo exhibition, presentation of cultural items, documentary film and release of booklet depicting various aspects of achievements registered by R&B Department during last one year and compiled and presented by Information and Public Relations Department.
Chief Minister said that it is heartening to note that the development policy and raising of massive public-service infrastructure is becoming visible on the ground and department of Roads and Buildings has toiled hard to make the double and triple-shift system a success.
Azad said it is also noteworthy that R&B Department has moulded its functioning to fit in the new work culture of which transparency and performance are the hallmark. Saying that bad impression circulates fast and good deeds require time to making mark, Chief Minister said that time will not be far when the task rendered by R&B department in past one year gets recognition. He said a massive infrastructure development programme launched in the state with liberal central assistance will transform the economic scenario of the state. “R&B department is pivotal for construction and infrastructure development, as such, requires to work with re-doubled energy to get works completed within time frame maintaining quality and standards of work”, he said.
Referring to the damage caused to infrastructure during the period of militancy, Chief Minister said that violence besides taking heavy toll of human lives has jolted the process of progress. He said re-doubling of efforts and working in double and triple-shifts to repair the wrecked infrastructure is need of hour. He said in this gigantic task all departments, functionaries and individuals have to contribute for making good of the losses incurred during militancy period.
Chief Minister hoped that department of R&B and other departments would also further streamline and strengthen their working activities to ensure speedy benefits of schemes to the people. He said the dream he had dreamt for prosperous J&K has started showing its imprints on ground.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak gave resume of the significant achievements registered by the department during last one year. He said “it gives me immense pleasure that engineers and other functionaries of the department worked tirelessly, exhibiting high degree of expertise in making double and triple-shifts system of work a reality to reckon with”. He said huge buildings, roads, bridges and other public infrastructure raised by the department of R&B with quality and success during last one year itself speaks for the hard efforts rendered by the departmental functionaries.
Assuring Chief Minister that his policy programmes for transparent management of affairs, work culture and quality construction would be motto of the department in future, he said the department would work with missionary zeal. He lauded the department of Information and Public Relations for presenting achievements of department of R&B through publication, photo exhibition and film show in a befitting and expert manner. He said, he would also ask the department to organize such photo exhibitions and film shows in Kashmir and Ladakh.
Welcoming the Chief Minister and other dignitaries, Director Information and Public Relations Khawaja Farooq Renzu highlighted the importance of dissemination of development information to the public through various modems. He said that department of Information through issuance of daily press releases, publications, photo shows, film festivals and other mass communication programmes circulate the policy programmes of government and present true picture of development scenario to the people. This, he said, has benefited public a lot and they are alive to the development programmes government approves for implementation. This also helps them to get involved in the development process and monitor works on ground. He said that the photo exhibition and documentary presented with regard to department of R&B would provide good detail profile of working activities to the people.
He suggested that like R&B other departments should also come forward in publicizing their public friendly activities utilizing the valuable services of Information Department.
Commissioner/Secretary R&B Mr. Atal Dulloo and Joint Director Information Jammu Mr. S K Sharma were present on the occasion amongst the engineering fraternity, functionaries of concerned units of department of Information and prominent citizens.
