| BJP holds protest, demands permanent EO in UMC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, July 23:
In support of their demand for permanent Executive Officer in Udhampur
Municipal Council (UMC), BJP activists today held a strong protest demonstration under the leadership of City President Raj Kumar Bucha in the Municipality Office, Udhampur. On the occassion, Bucha demanded that a permanent E.O should be appointed for UMC so that the grievances of the common people would be redressed immediately.
The BJP activists forcibly entered the room of the E.O which was lying vacant at that time and raised massive slogans against the E.O & local administration. While addressing the protesting activists, BJP activist Advocate Sunny Mahajan said that the E.O of UMC is not attending his office continuously for the last more than six months due to which UMC has become totally defunct & the development of town has come to a halt. Mahajan said that condition of various lanes has become really shabby & moreover, at one of the busiest chowk of Udhampur, i.e. Indira Chowk, a fountain has been installed but it has not been seen working for past some time.
Mahajan further added that most of the mst lights installed in the lanes do not work properly due to which people have to face a lot of difficulties.
While issuing a warning to the administration, he said that if a permanent EO is not appointed at the earliest & developmental works are not undertaken by the administration, then BJP will launch a massive agitation for the same.
