NSF protests delay in opening of CU-J

JAMMU, July 23: Hundreds of students from Government College R S Pura gathered in front of College gate after boycotting their classes on the call given by National Secular Forum (NSF) and held massive protest demonstration against State and Central Governments in support of their demand to make the Central University-Jammu (CU-J) functional by appointing its Vice-Chancellor at an earliest.
Activists of NSF Led by Surjit Choudhary District Chairman NSF and Ravi Choudhary District President also boycotted the classes at govt. College R.S.Pura in support of early function of Jammu Central University and raised slogans against State and Central government for playing with career of students.
Addressing the protesters, NSF District Chairman Surjit Choudhary said, "Government is playing with the sentiments of the Jammu people. That's why the functioning of Central University of Jammu is being hampered unnecessarily." He added that it’s only Central University of Jammu that was not functioning however; all other Central Universities are blooming.
He also said that conflicting signals were emanating from different quarters regarding the appointment of Vice-Chancellor of the said Jammu Central University giving rise to further uncertainties and misgivings among the people of Jammu.
Rocky Choudhary R S Pura tehsil President informed that while Kashmir Central University was functional despite adverse security scenario with post graduate courses in ITI, MBA, and English being conducted in full swing and several other post graduate courses like integrated law courses, convergent journalism and PG in Mathematics and Economics having been processed for introduction, the fate of Jammu Central University still hanged in balance.
Ravi Choudhary District President said all over the country, the Central universities have started their academic session, whereas the political issue over the Central University of Jammu was still going on.
