Ancient Buddha Amaranth Yatra begins from August 1 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT POONCH, July 23: Ancient Buddha Amaranth Yatra in the border district of Poonch in Jammu province will begin from August 1. Since centuries the Chattani Baba Buddha Amaranth which is situated at 290 km north – west in Poonch is devoted as the Baba Amaranth in the monsoon season (Sawan mahina) . This place is located in the beautiful hills and valleys in the left of the river Pulasti and it is said that the Amaranth Yatra is incomplete without visiting Chattani Baba Buddha Amaranth. Due to the militancy prone area, tight security measures have been taken so far. Over 3 to 4 lakh pilgrims are expected to visit the holy shrine this season from all over world. There are several arrangements done each year prior to the visit of the yatris such as accommodation, security of the yatris, proper sanitation, electricity and water supply, road repairing, street lights renovation, provision of first aid equipped with ambulance facility , ration arrangements and many more. When contacted DC Rajori Gulam Mohammad said, “We are arranging a meeting on July 28 to discuss and finalize the issues related Buddha Amaranth Yatra”. Like every year we wish and pray for the safe and joyful Buddha Amaranth yatra to all the yatris visiting the holy shrine, he added. DC Poonch Ajit Kumar Sahu stated that all the vital arrangements have been done already, including availability of ration, cooking gas, provision of tents, tarpaulin, and all others which are done every year on yatra.
