Second consecutive win for J&K in softball | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 23: Giving their best ever performance, Jammu and Kashmir won their second consecutive tie against formidable Uttar Pradesh (UP) to consolidate their position in league round of the ongoing Sub-junior National Baseball Championship at Solan in Himachal Pradesh today. As per the reports reaching here, J&K made it a 9-4 win against stronger UP. In fact, it was because of the coordinated efforts from catcher, Aijaz and pitcher, Firdous that the side clinched a sensational win. Aijaz, Firdous, Umar Nabi and Shahnawaz scored two homes each while Waseem Hussain added one from winners J&K. Earlier, in the opening match played yesterday, J&K blanked host Himachal Pradesh 3-0 to surprise the home crowd. Master Aijaz Ahmad, Firdous Ali and Tanzeel Khan scored one home each. Now, in the next league matches, J&K shall take on Chandigarh, Goa and Haryana. The state team is accompanied by coach, Fida Hussain. In all, 24 teams from different states of the country are taking part in this event on league-cum-knockout basis. Meanwhile, the president of Jammu and Kashmir Baseball Association, Gazanfar Ali and the coordinator, Muhammad Yusuf Mandu complimented the team and its officials for the performance. They hoped that the team would qualify for the knock-out round.
