Rather for dove tailing of schemes in RDD-Irrigation, | Orders inquiry against violation of guidelines in MGNREGA | | EARLY TIMES REPORT ANANTNAG, July 23: The District Development Board, Anantnag, which met here today under the Chairmanship of Finance Minister, Abdul Rahim Rather approved annual plan outlay of over Rs 103.52 crore for the current fiscal which is about Rs 5.23 crore more than last year’s plan allocation of Rs 99.56 crore. Current years plan allocation includes about Rs 37 crore as Revenue component and Rs 66.50 crore as capital component. While taking sectoral review of the physical and financial progress of the last year’s annual plan, Mr. Rather ordered to formulate a new scheme for construction of Martand Canal Gohan, which has been abandoned after spending Rs 45 lakh due to non-fulfillment of norms under AIBP. The canal would feed 14 villages comprising about 25000 Gujjar and Bakarwal population. It was informed that work on Brengi canal, under construction at a cost of Rs 20 crore, is in full swing. So far Rs 10 crore has been expended on the canal. On the insistence of the some local legislators, Rather ordered an inquiry against the alleged violation of main guidelines in execution of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA in the district. He asked the Development Commissioner, Anantnag to complete the inquiry within a month and report. He said stern action under rules shall be taken against the erring officials. The Chairman also directed for strict adherence of the instructions given at the District Development Board meeting adding that the concerned officers should behave and work with add responsibility and accountability to solve the people’s problems. He enjoined upon the officers of rural development and irrigation departments to dovetail their works programmes with regard to de-silting of kohls in the district so that farmers do not face any difficulty on this account. While reviewing performance of the agriculture department, the Chairman called for organizing farmer’s training-cum-awareness camps on large scale so that farmers are acquainted with the modern advancements in the agriculture science and technology. Minister of State for Roads and Buildings, and Agriculture, Javed Ahmad Dar, who is also Vice Chairman of the Development Board, also attended the meeting. The Minister for Education, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Deputy Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly, Sartaj Madni, Legislators, A. R. Veeri, Sofi Abdul Gaffar, Mohammad Rafi Mir, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Dr. B. A. Veri, Nizam-ud-Din Khatana and Mohammad Amin Bhat and heads of various engineering and other government departments also attended the meeting. |
