Harsh, Kundal stage walk out from Distt Devp Board meet | Protest delay in establishment of CU-J, other issues | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 23: Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party MLAs Harsh Dev Singh and Yash Paul Kundal staged a walk out in the District Development Board meeting Samba in protest against the despicable apathy and indifference of the government and the criminal silence maintained by it with regard to launch of Central University Jammu. The NPP MLA, Harsh Dev Singh apprised the DD Board Samba of the growing public resentment over the issue and the unrest amongst the Jammu youth particularly the students who had resorted to agitational course to register the strong resentment against govt. neglect and apathy. He also condemned the barbaric lathicharge on the peacefully demonstrating students and their indiscriminate arrests by the District administration in a bid to silence their voice. NPP MLAs demanded a categorical statement from the Chairman of DDB and the Ministers present on the occasion on the reasons for in-ordinate delay and sought a definite time frame for its launch, including appointment of Vice-Chancellor and initiation of academic activity from the current academic year. They strongly flayed the politics of bias and prejudice against Jammu region and condemned the hostile treatment given to it by successive govts. On the failure of the Chairman and other govt. nominees to give a satisfactory reply on the issue of Central University, the NPP MLAs staged a walk out. Earlier during the proceedings of the DDS meet, Harsh Dev Singh lambasted the State govt. for the raw deal given to Mansar Lake falling in Samba Distt. He said that despite outside tourist traffic in Jammu region including pilgrim tourists crossing one crore mark, the govt. had diverted a tourism related funds to Kashmir region with Dal Lake having been allocated Rs. 1100 crore, Wuller Lake 386 crore and a Jhelum River conservation and beautification project having been taken up with govt. of India for Rs. 2500 crore.
