Twin ‘tree talk’ organized in Srinagar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, July 24 (KNS): Twin ‘tree talks’ were held in Chashmashahi and Rangreth areas of the City on Sunday. In first ‘tree talk’ held at Cheshmashai 70 people including students of Kongposh Higher Secondary School and Iqbal Islamia Mission High School Bren participated with keen interest. Senior IFS officer O P Sharma highlighted role of society in contributing towards environmental and tree conservation. Senior IFS officer and PCCF J&K, Irshad Ahmad Khan while appreciating ‘tree talk’ campaigns floated by Sharma emphasized the role of students in sensitizing different sections of society as today’s students will be the torch bearer of tomorrow. “All progress and development revolves round better management of natural resources and key of prosperity and food security lies in sustainable development as foreseen by our Sufi Saint Sheikh Nur Ud Din Noorani who said Ann Posh Teli, Yeli Van Posh,” he said. Young IAS topper Shah Faesal while interacting with tree talkers appreciated old wisdom of elders who always held trees and water springs as manifestations of God. He appealed students to contribute towards better environment and conservation of local varieties in their school surroundings. Second ‘tree talk’ was organized in Rangreth Environmental Park where prominent scientists from CITH (Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture) Dr D B Singh, Dr Srivastva shared latest developments in the field of Horticulture. Chairman J&K Pollution Control Board Lal Chand focused on man and tree relationship since ages, Director Environment and Remte sensing R K Kesar emphasized the fact that each individual need to contribute towards protection of environment and conservation of trees by minimizing material consumerism.
