IAS officers inspire youngsters

JAMMU, July 24: As part of their continued efforts to inspire others towards Civil Services, four IAS officers of the state today guided the youngsters of the state through a workshop which was an initiative of the SR College of Competitions at its Kachi Chawni centre, here.
The lecture, followed by discussion and question-answer session revolved around the topic, “How to Crack Civil Services (IAS/KAS) Examination”. It was noteworthy that despite heavy rains, a large number of young men and women turned up to listen to four of the 12 selections in the Indian Civil Services Examination from J&K, conducted by the UPSC this year.
Making a beginning in sharing his successful journey, Dr Sarvjeet Soodan was followed by Vimarsh Aryan, Mohd Aijaz, Bhupinder Kumar, GK Sharma in this three-hour workshop.
The target students were told about subject combinations, answer writing skills, time management and role of newspapers and magazines in the General Studies and Essay papers.
After the general session, separate special sessions were held for optional subjects like Public Administration by Bhupinder Kumar (IAS), Psychology by Ramesh Sharma, Sociology by Mohd Aijaz (IAS), Geography by Vimarsh Aryan (IAS), Veterinary Science by Dr Sarvjeet Soodan (IAS), Zoology by GK Sharma and Dr Khalid and Political Science by Vikas Singh (Medha IAS, Delhi). As also, Anthropology, Law, Urdu, Philosophy, Botany and Management by other eminent experts.
Director of the College, Parveen Kumar Sharma, who himself teaches Indian Polity and Current Affairs, while congratulating the students for their decision to pursue a career in Civil Services laid stress on focused studies.
“Student from any back ground can crack this examination as the choice of Optional subjects is very wide that is why we find medicos, engineers, agricultural scientists, social scientists, linguists, economists and lawyers are writing this exam from some position of strength,” said the Director.
