3rd meeting of WG on Animal Husbandry concludes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, July 24: A 2-day 3rd meeting of Working Group (WG) on Animal Husbandry and Dairying (12th Plan) concluded here today. The meeting was convened to discuss the issues related to formulation of recommendations on Animal Husbandry and Dairying. It provided an opportunity to the members of working groups and sub groups to know the ideas and opinions of each other which will help them in framing long term plans on the subject. The Planning Commission of India had decided to evolve plans on rational basis after knowing regional and State specific problems and subsequently framed 5 Working Groups and 31 Sub Groups to study State specific needs. Terming the exercise important for prospective planning and development of animal and sheep husbandry departments, the Chairman, 12th Plan Working Group, Dr V K Taneja emphasized upon the heads of working groups and sub groups to submit their recommendations in time. Fodder utilization policy, Feed export policy, grass and pasture development, community livestock feeding, establishment of fodder bank, feed and fodder technology, increasing fodder production also came up for discussion. Suggesting establishment of Feed Regulation Act, the CEO, Live Stock Development Board Kashmir, F A Kaloo said that the Act will not only help in checking the import and supply of spurious feed and fodder in the State but will also go a long way in safe guarding the interests of farmers engaged in poultry and dairy business. Apart from the officers of Central Government, States like Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttrakhand, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Delhi participated in the meeting and presented their view point. |
